The coconut palm, Cocos nucifera, is a tropical tree that produces fruit used in food and beverages worldwide. Inside the nut is the edible endosperm, which can consist of both a solid and a liquid portion. The coconut meat is the solid endosperm that forms against the inside of the nut wall (endocarp) from the liquid endosperm.¹
